When it comes to meatless meals, we sometimes have to be created. However, we all do not have the time to always prepare meals from scratch. Excitedly, there are brands like Tofurky® and other products that cater to vegan-friendly meals. Often times, I chose a prepared meal by Tofurky® when I do not feel like cooking, or have limited time.
There are three Tofurky® Pockets — turk’y broccoli cheddar, pepperoni pizza and BBQ chick’n.I found that these meals are great for when I do not have time to pack a lunch for work. I have tried all three products and my favorite was the pepperoni pizza. This may be the case because I have always had a love affair with pizza.
One pocket contains 300 calories. When it comes to weight training, I eat two pockets to hit my macros for that meal. However, that is my preference and what works for my body type. If you have any issues with soy or wheat gluten, then be aware this product does contain it.
Even though my favorite was the pizza, my boyfriend felt differently. He is a meat-eater, but is open to my diet. However, he is not always a fan for the faux meat products, i.e., Morningstar Farms. For his favorite, he chose the turk’y broccoli cheddar. I felt these products could easily be served to meat eaters for an enjoyable meal.
The other products that I tried were the Tofurky® Pies. There are two flavors – chick-n pot pie and sausage & veggie quiche. My favorite one of the two was the chick’n pot pie. I found this product to be a comfort food.
This may be the case because it somewhat reminds me of my childhood. For the best results, it was recommended to bake it. That was what I did, and it came out delicious. The fat content for this product was a little higher than I like for each meal.
Since it was a little higher, I decided to eat half one day and save the rest for the following day to stay within my macro goals. The flavor of this meal was fantastic. It was filling and the gravy was mouthwatering.
