I am so excited to kick off the New Year with another adventure in health and fitness. I have been back and forth with my gym schedule. However, I am not going to wait another day to get this started. I am starting again today.
I have decided to try a different schedule. I want to make sure that I do not overdo things, and I can stick to realistic goals. My new schedule will be going to the gym after my workday. When I am able to make the mornings, I will definitely take advantage of that.
I have also decided to try out a new plan. On Bodybuilding.com, there is a program created by Lee Lebrada called the Lean Body Trainer. I am starting day one tonight. I will begin the workout with five minutes on the stationary bike. This will be my warm up.
After my warm up, I will head over to the weights.
Exercise
Reps/Sets
Notes
Bent Over Two-Dumbbell Row
2 sets of 10-12 reps, 1 set to failure
60-90 sec rest
Underhand Pullups
2 sets of 10-12 reps, 1 set to failure
60-90 sec rest
Standing Barbell Curl
2 sets of 10-12 reps, 1 set to failure
60-90 sec rest
Dumbbell Alternate Bicep Curl
2 sets of 10-12 reps, 1 set to failure
The underhand pullups will be performed assisted. If you can complete this exercise without assistance, then definitely take that route. However, I am not at that point yet.
After we complete the weight training session, we are going to head over to the elliptical or exercise bike. For the next 26-minutes, we will have a HICT (High Intensity Cardio Training) session.
Intervals:
Minutes 1-2: Level One (Easy resistance)
Minutes 3-5: Level Two (Moderate resistance)
Minutes 6-9: Level Three (Difficult resistance)
Minutes 10-11: Level Two
Minutes 12-15: Level Three
Minutes 16-17: Level Two
Minutes 18-21: Level Three
Minutes 22-24: Level Two
Minutes 25-26: Level One
If you are following along with me on this new program, let me know. I’d love to chat about our progress together!
Update
Last night, I arrived at the gym just after 6 p.m. I went to the locker room, changed and I was ready for my first day back in the New Year. I was sipping on my EEA’s from Prime Nutrition and feeling pumped. Apparently, the entire gym was too because it was packed.
The weight training started exactly at 6:24 p.m. and it took me 24 minutes to complete. Once I finished my session, I went upstairs and did 26 minutes of HICT on the elliptical. Overall, it was a simple workout compared to the intensity that I am used to. However, I want to go through the entire motions of the Lean Body program.
This weekend, I will talk about the new supplements that I am taking. I wanted to write a review about it a week into using them. I am really liking the Prime Nutrition line, which a local company. If you decide to check them out, use GYM240 at check out.
You will get 20 percent off your order. I’ll get more into detail after I have a better opinion of them though. I only want to recommend products that I have tried.
